5.3 Evaluation Procedure of Applications

The Steering Committee (S.C.) evaluates applications that are submitted within the deadline and complete with all required documentation. The evaluation is carried out in three (3) stages:

Stage 1:
Verification of the candidates’ formal qualifications and documentation (items 1–7 above).

Stage 2:
Candidates who pass Stage 1 are scored according to the following criteria, with a maximum of 100 points:

Criteria Maximum Points
Grade of undergraduate degree (e.g., grade 8 = 20 points) 25
Proven work experience related to the subject of the program 25
  • 0 months = 0 points

  • Up to 2 months = 2 points

  • More than 2 up to 12 months = 10 points

  • More than 12 up to 36 months = 20 points

  • More than 36 months = 25 points

Stage 3:
Includes interviews with selected candidates, proposed by the Evaluation Committee. Max score: 30 points.

After interviews, the S.C. compiles a ranked list of successful and alternate candidates, with detailed scores. This list is submitted to the Department Assembly for approval.
In case of a tie, the internal postgraduate regulations of the University of Western Macedonia apply.

Upon approval of the list, within ten (10) working days, the results are posted on the noticeboards and websites of the coordinating department. This includes the ranked list of successful and alternate candidates.

Once results are announced, the Director (or Deputy Director) of the I.P.P. sends an acceptance letter to each admitted candidate. The letter states that within ten (10) working days, candidates must confirm acceptance via a legally binding declaration submitted to the program's Secretariat. Failure to respond within the deadline is considered withdrawal of the candidacy.

If withdrawals occur, the Secretariat contacts the next candidates on the list.

Appeals may be submitted to the program's Secretariat within five (5) working days of the announcement. Appeals are reviewed by the Steering Committee, which decides whether to accept them and may revise the final list accordingly.
